Pyritised Ammonites – Pleuroceras – BAP02-B5

These stunning little sections of Pyritised Ammonite (sp. Pleuroceras) are collected from a site near Forcheim, Germany. They date back to the Pliensbachian stage (Lower Jurassic) approximately 185 million years ago. Ammonites suffered the same fate as as dinosaur friends some 65 million years ago. During their time underground they’ve become pyritised (a pretty rare situation). The pyrite tends to oxidise and look a bit dull so these, like most from this site, have been lightly brushed with a brass brush to give them a bit of shine.

This is a select lot, what you see in the photo is what you will receive.
