These spectacular agates have beautiful, intoxicating patterns. The tight, swirling, and sometimes orbicular patterns are stunning and we can’t stop looking at these agates! 

These are get up and go stones – they’re all about pushing through the lethargy and seizing the day. Opportunities are pretty great but can often pass on by, so we love how silk agate can give us the boost we need to make the most of the moment, get stuff done, and to be confident in doing so. Today’s vibe is big and vivacious – let’s go.

Dubbed silk agates in light of their soft, swirling patterns, these stones are also often labelled (arguably incorrectly) as sardonyx. There’s also a lot of talk about these stones being enhanced, and despite being assured they’re natural, from doing a lot of reading, it appears these stones have been heated to accentuate the contrast and bring out some colour. Heating stones to enhance the colour is a traditional process dating back thousands of years, with examples found in ancient Indian temples and Egyptian tombs. The techniques used have changed very little over the years, and while we’re not big fans of artificial or modified stones, this is another great example of taking an otherwise unsaleable dull and/or colourless natural stone and heating slowly and gently over several days to create a premium product that highlights the natural patterns within. And while the beauty of these stones may be only skin deep, the attitude and energy they possess goes to their very core.
