These beautiful Golden Calcite Rhombs are from Guizhou, China. The natural crystal shape is also known as Iceland Spar (the first examples found in Iceland…) and is notable for its double refraction – an object seen through the crystal will be doubled. The horizontal cleavage (the natural planes along which the crystal will shear or break) means they’re also often laden with little rainbows. The colours vary from light yellow to a deep golden orange.
