Cherry Blossom Stone, Tumbled Stones (Med/Large) – 200g

This pretty stone from Peru consists of pink Thulite in a white matrix of Meionite (scapolite) and Wairakite, giving it the appearance of cherry blossoms against a spring snow flurry. For years the stone has been widely called Cinnabrite, or Cinnabite, both of which are marketing terms that came about because the pink dots were thought to be cinnabar in a quartz matrix (some say it’s because of the likeness to Dracaena cinnabari (Dragon’s Blood) or cinnamon, but whatever the case, the link to cinnabar is problematic). As it turns out, there is no cinnabar (so no mercury!) and there is no quartz. Obviously Cherry Blossom Stone is also a marketing name, but pink Thulite in Meionite and Wairakite is a bit of a mouthful, so we’re cool with it.
